What the statute requires, section by section

Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (UAE PDPL). Provisions addressed:

Art. 9: Reporting a personal data breach to the UAE Data Office, with required records/documentation of the breach and corrective actions; the processor notifies the controller; the controller notifies the data subject where prejudiced.
Art. 20: Personal data security (technical/organisational measures; testing).
Art. 21: Assessment of personal data protection impact (DPIA).
Art. 18: Automated processing; right to human review of automated decisions.
Art. 13: Right to obtain information. In force 2 January 2022; detailed periods and procedures (incl. breach-notice timing) are set by the Executive Regulations.
