What the statute requires, section by section

Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Act No. 10465 (original); the major amendment (Act No. 19234) is mostly effective 15 September 2023. Provisions addressed:

Art. 34: Notification of a leak of personal information to the data subject and report to the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC).
Art. 29: Duty of safety measures (technical/administrative/physical), including measures to prevent the forgery or alteration of access logs.
Art. 31: Designation of a privacy officer (CPO).
Art. 37-2: Right to request explanation/refusal/review regarding decisions made through a fully automated system (in force 15 March 2024). WATCH ITEM: a further PIPA amendment passed 10 March 2026 (most provisions taking effect ~11 September 2026) broadens "breach" and lowers the notification trigger; confirm the consolidated post-Sept-2026 text before relying on it.
