What the statute requires, section by section

Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA), Md. Code, Commercial Law sections 14-4601 to 14-4614. Provisions addressed:

§ 14-4607: Controller duties; strong DATA MINIMIZATION (collection limited to what is reasonably necessary and proportionate to provide the requested product/service); reasonable administrative, technical and physical data security; non-discrimination; prohibition on selling sensitive data.
§ 14-4605: Consumer rights; controller responds within 45 days (one 45-day extension; 60-day appeal).
§ 14-4610: Data protection assessments for heightened-risk processing. Effective 1 October 2025 (applies to processing activities on or after that date).
