Federal AI standing orders, one page per order
What the order requires, stated as the court states it, from the court's own document.
What it requires
Every party appearing before Judge Brown, through counsel or pro se, must certify at the end of every filing one of two things: that no generative AI was used in drafting or preparing it, research included; or, if it was, that every portion influenced by AI was personally reviewed by the filer for accuracy, and that every legal citation is to an actual, non-fictitious authority and accurately reflects it. The certification does not count against page limits. A filing without it may be struck.
The order's own words
“Filings without the AI Certification do not comply with this order and may be stricken without substantive consideration and without leave to amend.”
The second limb, in full
“If generative AI was used in the drafting or preparation of the filing, that any portion of the filing influenced by AI was personally reviewed by the filer (either the pro se party who filed the document or counsel for the filing party) for accuracy and that all legal citations reference actual, non-fictitious cases or cited authority and accurately reflect the contents of such authority.”

Standing Order Regarding Civil Litigation, signed and entered on 8 October 2026 in civil cases assigned to Judge Brown. It supersedes any prior standing orders. The certification is section b
The source
This order asks for a certification on every filing: either no AI, or a personal review of everything it touched and every citation. The attorney's receipt is the showing behind the second answer: a sealed, signed record of which tools were used and what you personally verified, made at the time of filing, and anyone can verify it free.
A signed record of which AI you used and what you checked, sealed to the exact file you deliver, made on your own machine and checkable free by anyone you send it to.
