What the statute requires, section by section

Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services (生成式人工智能服务管理暂行办法), promulgated 10 July 2023 by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) with six other departments; effective 15 August 2023. Provisions addressed:

Art. 7: Training-data governance: lawful-source data/foundation models, IP and personal-information consent, data quality/provenance.
Art. 9: Provider responsibility as online information content producer and personal-information handler; user service agreements.
Art. 11: Handling of user input and usage records (no unlawful retention or provision; honour access/correction/deletion requests).
Art. 12: Labelling/identification of generated content (images, video, etc.).
Art. 14: On discovering illegal content: stop/remove, optimize the model, and report to authorities; on illegal use: warn/limit/suspend/terminate, store the relevant records, and report.
